Season 6 of PUBG is upon us and with it brings a huge 6.1 update.
First off there is a brand new map called Karakin. The map is 2×2, making it the smallest map yet. With this, the player count is reduced to 64 players, down from the usual 100.
Karakin sees the introduction of the ‘Black Zone’, a feature where buildings a randomly bombed and can be totally flattened. This makes every match played on Karakin unique as the scenery can change every time. Bullet penetration has also been added to certain surfaces which allows you to shoot your foes through them.
The one downside to having a new map is that one is (temporarily) being taken away. Snowy map Vikendi is being taken off the map rotation to decrease server queues. PUGB Corp say that Vikendi will be receiving an overhaul and it will be back soon.
PUBG Season 6 also adds a few new weapons. The first is C4 sticky bombs which can be used to breach certain walls and floors within the environment. Also the trailer shows rocket launchers will be available, however its safe to assume that these will be reserved for airdrop loot boxes.
The updated also adds gliders on Erangel and Miramar. 10 gliders will spawn randomly across the map that can hold 2 people. You’ll need a fuel can to fill up the glider and they will spawn empty. Its sure to be a great way to get from one side of the huge map to the other quickly.
Finally there is a bunch of bug fixes and gameplay balances, as well as updates to the Survivor Pass with new challenges and missions.
The update is currently available on the Public Test Server, however there is not date mentioned when these changes will roll out to the live servers.
