Elon Musk took to the stage in Hawthorne, California last night to show off Tesla’s latest product, the Cybertruck, and its nothing like you’ve ever seen before.
The prototype vehicle sports sharp angular edges, super tough 30X cold-rolled stainless steel panels, “unbreakable” amour glass and incredible performance, with a 0-60 time of just 2.9 seconds and a quarter mile in under 11 seconds for the highest spec tri-motor version.
Other features include a storage capacity of 100 cubic feet, the ability to tow over 14,000lbs and hold a payload of up to 3,500lbs. In the interior, the Cybertruck is big enough to comfortably seat 6 people, with a 17 inch trademark Tesla touchscreen front and centre for all the HUD and vehicle controls.
All very impressive, however one issue came during the presentation when demonstrating how tough the armour glass was. After throwing a heavy ballbearing at the glass, each panel of glass cracked, so it looks like Tesla have a few issues to iron out first.
The price of the Cybertruck is also competitive, with a starting price of $39,900 (around £31,100) for the single motor version, moving all the way up to $69,000 for the most powerful tri-motor version.
