Apple announce iPhone 11

Another year, another set of iPhones. Apple just dropped 3 new iPhones for 2019, the iPhone 11, 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max.

The iPhone 11, it’s the direct successor to last years popular iPhone XR. It features a 6.1-inch LCD “Liquid Crystal” display and the new A13 Bionic processor which delivers not only top notch performance, but up to an hour of extra battery time too.

There is a dual camera set up on the back, with a 12-megapixel ultra-wide lens allowing for a greater field of view. The front camera also gets a bump to 12-megapixels and a wide-angle lens, as well as the ability to record front facing video in slow motion, a feature that Apple is calling “Slofies”. Other improvements include a dedicated Night Mode for darker scenes, something that the likes of Google and Huawei have been doing for some time now, with impressive results.

Video quality on the rear has been bumped up too, with the ability to capture full 4K at 60 frames per second.

Apple has even reduced the price versus the XR on launch, possibly feeling the pinch from the low-cost, high-end Android devices available from OnePlus, Oppo and Xiaomi. Pre-orders starts from £729 for the 64GB storage model, going up to £879 for the 256GB option. There is a huge range of colours this year too with black, green, yellow, purple, (Product) RED and white available on 20th September.

It’s a solid upgrade for the XR and will most likely be the most popular iPhone once again this year. Apple has plenty of catching up to do in some areas (slow in-box5W charger, no USB-C, fixed storage) and other manufactures continue to beat Apple with specifications on paper, nothing beats the iOS usability and ecosystem for most people.
